The 1st of May offers another, unofficial, Milan- Culture Week.
After the museums’ entry at the cost of 1€, from the 3rd to the 8th of May, Milan and its Chamber of Commerce will host the Giornate del Teatro romano di Milano, a two thousand years ago – dip in the history of the city.
The events will be at Palazzo Giureconsulti, 2,Piazza Mercanti.
From the 3rd to the 7th of May – meetings and tasting in the launch break at 12 to 13 pm. Free for the participants the libretto sulla cucina antica (the book of the old cousing).

What will you expect? For sure history and glamour, for those who appreciate them!
In these years Milan has changed: let’s think about mura spagnole in Porta Romana. From dept of the underground, they became a fashion pub and now host the new Milanese baths. But there are also the rests of the the Western Roman Empire (San Lorenzo in Ticinese can be an excelent example).
The discover of the Teatro romano came out at the end of the nineteenth century, when Milan was a building site with a new plan and fabolous palaces. These happened in piazza Cordusio, Corso Magenta and Palazzo Turati, where today are the remains, en plein air, of the Palazzo Imperiale.
According to the studies of 2004 made by the Milan Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the Teatro Romano of Milan belongs to a period before the Late Empire: the Augustan age (31 B.C. – 14 A.D.)
Today we can see the remains of the cavea, that survived after the Frederick Redbeard’ s destructive raid in 1162.

Archaeologists will show you the remains along the trail, edited by Istituto di Archeologia of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and with the exhibition edited by the architect Ettore Lariani.
Then, to involve you deeper will be perfumes, sounds and the words of Casina of the latin author Plauto, performed by Giorgio Albertazzi (with the musics of Maestro Francesco Rampichini).
